What is VPN and why would I need it?
Most of the main UK television services (BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky) offer viewing over the internet. The only problem is that you have to be in the UK to access these services.  A Virtual Private Network (VPN) provides you with a new UK based IP address fooling the content providers into thinking that you are in the UK.  You can then access any UK sites even if they are restricted to UK residents only.

What is an IP address?
This is an address that uniquely identifies your computer and tells the website you are accessing where in the world you are.  When a website such as the BBC iPlayer receives a connection from you it uses your IP address to check if you are in the UK.  Connecting via our Global Virtual Router box means that the website you are visiting will see the IP address of our UK server and therefore conclude that you are in the UK.

What is the difference between a standard VPN service and The Global Virtual Router Box?
The Global Virtual Router is a box that you simply plug-in and play. This box will give you the full VPN service without the need for any configuration or software installation on your computer, PS3, Wii or Xbox360.

Which online UK TV services are compatible with your devices?
Any device or combination of devices that you may use (for example PC/TV, Xbox, Playstation, Freesat HDR, Wii, I-Pod or I-Phone) with your Global Router Box will give you a range of online UK TV services. 

The combination of devices and the online UK TV services available with each are detailed below. Along the top of the chart are the devices that you may have and along the side of the chart are the on-line TV services compatible with that device. Do not forget that you can use multiple devices at the same time.

Please Note, that some devices (such as the Wii) have limited online UK channels at the moment, however as these devices are upgraded with the full online TV experience the Global Router Box will automatically access them.  Any limitations of UK TV viewing are due to the device that you are using rather than the Global Router Box.

Can I use multiple devices or have multiple users at the same time?
Absolutely!  This is one of the main advantages of purchasing the Global Virtual Router Box as opposed to a standard VPN service.  If you subscribe to a VPN provider you will only have one connection at any one time per subscription.  Once you have purchased the Global Virtual Router Box you can have more than 5 devices connected at the same time.  In real terms, this means that several members of the same household can all be accessing different UK TV channels and websites at the same time.

Do I need to install any extra software on my computer?

Is there an annual service charge?
Yes - like all VPN services there is an annual service charge. The first year is included in the purchase price of the box. At the moment this is €80 per year.

How long is the service contract for Virtual Global Router?
We are so confident in the Virtual Global Router box and VPN service that we only offer service contracts for 12 month periods.  The annual payment (which is included in the purchase price of the box) gives you unlimited access to all UK web content on up to 5 devices at the same time.  No need for fiddly monthly installments, direct debits (etc.) a simple annual fee and you can be up and running enjoying all the benefits of UK TV for the year. A month before the end of your 12 month contract We will contact you by e-mail asking if you would like to renew your subscription for the following year.

I don’t know much about computers etc. How do I set up?
The Virtual Global Router box will arrive ready to go.  Simply plug the Ethernet cable into your main ADSL provider router/modem.  Next plug into the mains power and after a few seconds you will be able to connect through the Wifi or through an Ethernet cable.  You can view TV programmes or internet sites using your TV/PC, X-Box, Wii, I-Pod or any other device with a web browser that can use WiFi. 

What Internet connection is required?
It should work on any broadband connection 4mb or more.
